From retrenchment to success
Ismael Nuunyango’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and determination.
After losing his job in 2021, he decided to use his final salary to start Larez Investments, a construction company based in Ondangwa that has since built over 40 houses, averaging 10 houses per year since they started. Today, his business is thriving and recognised by all major banks in Namibia for its quality work and commitment to excellence.
Nuunyango believes in giving back to the community and has several charitable initiatives, such as sponsoring Onguta parish church in Ondangwa with building materials as well as the construction of their five public toilets.
He has also sponsored soccer balls for Mama Love football club, a local soccer team that engages youth in sports.
For Nuunyango, it’s all about creating opportunities for young people and providing them with positive outlets to keep them active and out of trouble. He also calls on local schools in Ondangwa that need sponsorship to reach out to Larez investment. “We want to support schools in any way we can because education plays a key role in shaping the future,” Ismael says.
Education a priority
He highlights the importance of education and practical experience for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Nuunyango shares that working in various roles in the construction industry has been invaluable for developing skills in quality supervision and project management.
He aims to have at least 50% of his workforce be women, offering them opportunities in traditionally male dominated roles.
Looking ahead, Nuunyango has big plans for Larez Investments, focusing on affordable housing primarily in northern Namibia, with potential expansions into central and southern regions.
He encourages the youth, saying, “Stay committed to your goals and don’t shy away from taking risks”.
Nuunyango’s journey is not just about building houses, it’s about building a better future for his community.
His story showcases how determination, hard work and a heart for service can truly make a difference.
