Jennifer Peterson’s steady rise at SanlamAllianz
For many young professionals, the first step into the working world is an opportunity to learn, grow and prove themselves.
For Jennifer Peterson, a newly appointed branch consultant at SanlamAllianz in Swakopmund, that first step has developed into a promising career built on dedication, continuous learning and a passion for helping people.
Peterson’s career at SanlamAllianz began as an intern, where she gained practical experience and developed a strong understanding of the financial services industry. After completing her internship, she was offered a temporary position, allowing her to further strengthen her knowledge of financial products, customer service and client engagement.
Today, she has progressed into the role of branch consultant, assisting clients with their financial and insurance needs while providing professional advice and building lasting relationships.
“Receiving the call was an incredibly proud and rewarding moment,” she says. “It felt like my hard work, perseverance and commitment had been recognised.”
“Personally, this role represents the achievement of an important career milestone and the reward for the effort I have invested over the past few years,” she adds.
The opportunity was particularly meaningful because she had already experienced the company's culture through her internship and temporary position.
“I knew it was an environment where I wanted to build my career,” she explains. “The opportunity to become a permanent member of the team gave me confidence that I was moving in the right direction professionally.”
Working alongside experienced colleagues taught her the importance of professionalism, adaptability, attention to detail and consistently putting clients first.
As the financial services industry evolves, she believes professionals must be prepared to adapt. One of the biggest changes she has experienced is the increasing role of digital technology, with clients expecting faster communication, convenient services and solutions tailored to their individual needs.
“I believe there are significant opportunities to improve customer experience by combining digital solutions with personalised financial advice,” she says.
For her, however, technology should complement rather than replace meaningful human relationships. Understanding each client's circumstances and financial goals remains central to providing quality service.
Growth, one step at a time
Looking ahead, she hopes to expand her knowledge of financial services, develop her leadership skills and take on greater responsibilities.
“My goal is to become a trusted financial professional who helps clients make informed decisions while contributing to the organisation's long-term success,” she says.
Professionalism, accountability and continuous learning guide her approach to work. She is particularly excited about building long-term relationships with clients and contributing to the growth of the Swakopmund branch.
Away from work, she describes herself as naturally reserved at first but says that once she gets to know people, she enjoys “building meaningful relationships and creating a positive atmosphere”.
And when it comes to recharging after a busy day, her choice is "definitely tea".
Her career is a reminder that progress does not always happen overnight. Sometimes, it begins with a single opportunity, followed by consistent effort, learning and the determination to keep moving forward.
