14th Annual Namibia Careers Expo Inspires Future Professionals
The Namibia Careers Expo, a key platform for career development in the country, marked its 14th edition on 3rd and 4th April 2025 at the Windhoek Country Club. Since its launch in 2009, the Expo has been a vital event, connecting students, educators, and parents with industry leaders and academic institutions to explore various career pathways.
The event began with a cocktail launch attended by the newly appointed Minister of Education, emphasising the importance of such initiatives for the future of Namibia’s youth. This year’s Expo aimed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of available career options and the knowledge necessary for making informed decisions regarding their future education and careers.
Throughout the two-day event, learners had the chance to interact directly with professionals from various fields, gaining valuable insights into potential career paths and academic opportunities. The Expo was supported by key partners, including Sanlam Namibia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), further enhancing the event's credibility and impact.
A notable addition this year was the introduction of the Sanlam Speakers’ Hall. This space featured inspiring talks from seasoned professionals, who shared personal career journeys and offered guidance on navigating the world of work. These sessions encouraged meaningful discussions and provided students with the opportunity to learn from experts in their respective fields.
In addition to the talks, attendees could participate in practical workshops focusing on essential skills such as CV writing, interview preparation, entrepreneurship, and professional development. These workshops equipped learners with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers.
The 2025 Expo attracted 42 expert speakers, 28 exhibitors, and 31 schools from across Namibia, including institutions from outside Windhoek. International exhibitors also took part, broadening the learners' exposure to opportunities beyond Namibia’s borders. Exhibitors included prestigious institutions such as the University of Pretoria, Tshwane University of Technology, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The event also attracted several notable dignitaries, including Her Excellency Vivian Loss Sanmartin, the Ambassador of Brazil to Namibia. Sanmartin praised the Expo for providing students with access to international study opportunities. “This is a great platform for students to discover study options abroad and make well-informed decisions for their futures,” she said.
For many students, the Expo proved to be an enriching experience. Dorothy Linyando, a student from Concordia College, expressed her enthusiasm: “The Expo has been incredibly informative. I’ve learnt about various scholarships and bursaries that could help me further my studies.”
As the Namibia Careers Expo continues to grow, organisers plan to extend next year’s event to a full week, further enhancing its reach and impact on Namibia’s next generation of professionals.
