Francois Dames – Building strength, faith and character
“I’ve always felt a calling to help people discover who they are in Christ,” Dames explains. “It started when I went through difficult times as a young man and experienced how God restored my identity.” That experience shaped his passion for working with youth - a generation he believes is the key to Namibia’s future.
Dames’s path to ministry was anything but linear. From sports to self-defence and eventually faith leadership, every phase helped him gain a deeper understanding of people. At Agapé WHK, he found a spiritual home where he can put his gifts into practice. “Here I’m not just leading; I’m growing and serving alongside others,” he says.
Realistic survival
His other passion, TrueKrav, is an independent self-defence studio focused on realistic survival, not style. “We teach people to think and react under pressure. It’s about awareness, calm and control.” For trauma survivors, this kind of training offers more than physical protection; it restores confidence and a sense of control.
As a high-performance mental endurance coach, Dames helps people develop the mental and emotional strength to persevere when life gets tough. “I teach them to keep moving even when it’s hard, to make the mind stronger than the body,” he explains.
He also bridges faith and performance through his sports ministry. “True strength doesn’t lie in muscle, but in character, faith and consistent obedience.” His work with young athletes has proven that success begins with mindset, not talent.
For Dames, real leadership is simple. “People don’t follow perfection; they follow authenticity.”
His message to Namibia’s youth is equally powerful: “Don’t let your circumstances define you. Your story is still being written.”
With a vision to build a generation that is spiritually strong, emotionally healthy and physically active, Francois Dames lives what he teaches - to be a light, a force and a source of faith in a world that desperately needs it.
