A tasty Namibian success story
Frans Shivute is the founder of Langa’s Agribusiness Investments CC, a Swakopmund-based food manufacturing company best known for its Pure Nut Peanut Butter, which has recently expanded its range to include honey and sauces.
He runs the business with his wife, Konstansia Shivute, who oversees day-to-day operations, supported by a small team.
Production takes place in a 100 m² facility, while distribution is handled through resellers, direct customer orders and the company’s social media platforms.
Shivute says the idea for the business emerged after noticing how heavily local communities rely on imported goods.
“Communities relied heavily on imported products, even though the country has resources to produce locally," he said recently.
“I wanted to create value locally, support farmers and contribute to Namibia’s food security,” he added.
Local treasure
Pure Nut Peanut Butter is available in four variants: smooth, crunchy, smooth sweetened and crunchy sweetened.
Shivute oversees the entire production process — from sorting and roasting the peanuts to grinding and packaging them. “We control each step to ensure freshness, hygiene and consistency,” he said.
He emphasised that the products are aimed at health-conscious consumers, athletes and families seeking locally produced food options.
Shivute said the community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. “People appreciate buying Namibian-made products and learning about natural peanut butter and local value chains,” he noted.
He hopes his work will encourage more Namibians to produce locally, create employment and contribute to the country’s broader development goals.
Be brave, learn always
Among the milestones the company has experienced so far, he highlights the launch of Pure Nut and the nationwide interest it has generated. “Being invited to present our products to retailers showed that our work has national relevance,” he said.
Reflecting on the lessons learned, Shivute said: “Consistency and courage matter more than resources. Start with what you have, build slowly and learn continuously.” He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to “start now, focus on solving a real problem and deliver value with honesty.”
Additionally, Shivute explained that the vision of building something meaningful for his country, creating jobs, and contributing to a healthier nation keeps him going. “Success is producing value that outlives you, creates opportunities for others, and builds a legacy,” he said.
