MyZone welcomes Shera-Lee Hambira as newest intern
MyZone is excited to welcome Shera-Lee Hambira, the newest journalism intern, who joins the team with a passion for storytelling and a drive to amplify youth voices across Namibia.
“I’ve always admired how MyZone gives young people a platform to express their voices and share real stories that matter,” she said. “I wanted to be part of that energy: to learn, grow and tell stories that reflect everyday Namibian experiences in a fresh, creative way.”
Hambira’s journey into journalism stems from a love for connecting with people, writing and curiosity about the world. “I realised journalism allows me to bring all those interests together – to tell stories that inform, inspire and make a difference in people’s lives,” she said.
During her internship, Hambira hopes to sharpen her writing and reporting skills, gain hands-on newsroom experience and learn how to create engaging content for both print and digital audiences. “Most importantly, I want to grow my confidence as a storyteller.”
Since joining, her experience has been eye-opening. “I have learned so much in such a short time, from interviewing people to understanding how a story comes together. One highlight has been filming my cooking show for the first time.”
She acknowledges that timing and deadlines can be challenging for young journalists but is committed to learning and improving. “I’m learning to plan better, manage my time wisely, and stay focused even under pressure.”
With a storytelling style that’s “simple but heartfelt”, she aims to connect with readers through authenticity and emotion. “Every story has the power to make someone think, feel or act differently – that’s what inspires me most about journalism,” Hambira explained.
