Amy van den Heever is the founder and owner of Wellness Centre spa at Gustav Voigts shopping centre in Windhoek. Creating a comfortable space for her clients and delivering excellent service is what she strives for.

At the Wellness Centre, they offer the following services to clients: "A wide variety of the latest technologies in the beauty industry such as jet plasma treatments, micro-needling, chemical and chemical peels, tattoo removal as well as permanent make up".

Part of her role is to advise clients on products and services that could benefit their wellness and beauty routines. "After treatments, I often recommend skincare products, essential oils or follow-up services that align with their needs and goals," Van den Heever said.

She also informs her clients about the importance of wellness. "Every person - whether male, female, young or mature - will realise that wellness is not a luxury, but a necessity in today's very busy and stressful life. Making time for your wellness is a much needed and deserved gift to yourself".

Van den Heever explained that the nature of the beauty and wellness industry is ever-evolving. "You have to keep learning and go for new training in order to keep up with latest trends and entice clients to come back," she noted.

"My love for my industry started at a very young age. I would see my parents come home exhausted from a hard day at work and I asked myself what can I do to make them feel better." Van den Heever then started giving her parents back massages and foot treatments. "Seeing how much it meant to them and that just for those few minutes I could help them relax was the ultimate reward for me."

The seed was planted and she was ready to pursue her destiny. After school, Van den Heever studied at Tina Scholtz Academy for Health and Skincare Professionals, where she graduated with a three-year higher diploma in somatology.

To those who want to follow in her footsteps, she said: "Let your passion be your driving force. Your passion for the human body and skin, bringing relief and relaxation to your clients and delivering result-driven products and services to clients in need".
