OTESA appoints Marius Burger as chief financial officer
OTESA Civil Engineering has confirmed the appointment of Marius Burger as chief financial officer (CFO), effective 2 March.
The company said this strategic appointment reinforces OTESA’s commitment to strong financial governance, disciplined execution, and sustainable value creation.
Burger brings extensive executive and financial leadership experience across multiple sectors, with a proven track record in financial restructuring, operational efficiency, revenue growth, and profitability improvement. His appointment comes as OTESA continues to strengthen its balance sheet, optimise project delivery, and scale operations.
Commenting on the appointment, OTESA CEO Elmo Kaiyamo said: "This appointment is strategic and fully aligned with the direction in which OTESA is progressing."
He said the company's success as an organisation "is underpinned by strong financial performance driven by revenue growth, productivity improvements and disciplined cost management".
Kaiyamo added that "Burger’s leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that our projects deliver sustainable profitability while strengthening liquidity and financial resilience".
Diverse professional experience
Burger said in his new role, he will “focus on overseeing the company’s financial strategy, ensuring strong governance, and supporting sustainable growth”.
His career spans telecommunications, FMCG, agriculture, hospitality, healthcare, construction, and insurance, giving him a broad perspective on both challenges and opportunities.
“Senior finance roles across sectors helped me develop strong financial oversight and strategic planning skills,” he explained. “These experiences also strengthened my ability to build lasting business relationships.”
As CFO, Burger will be responsible for compliance and risk management, improving liquidity, and strengthening cost control. He emphasised the value of technology and data in modern financial leadership.
“There is great potential in using financial data and technology to improve forecasting, cost control, and overall decision-making."
Purpose and values
For Burger, the role is both professionally and personally meaningful. “I am passionate about making a difference,” he shared.
“This role allows me to strengthen the organisation's financial foundation while supporting long-term growth and infrastructure development that benefits communities.”
Guided by integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, Burger aims to build systems that support operational excellence and sustainable value creation. His guiding philosophy is: "Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
With his appointment, OTESA positions itself to deliver stronger financial resilience, disciplined execution, and long-term stakeholder value under Burger’s leadership.
